Still a Market for CDs Despite Music Downloads
Believe it or not, despite the easy and cheap access to music downloads, there is still a market for physical CDs. Why the heck would someone buy a CD when music downloads are so much cheaper and easier? There are really two major reasons for the CD market. First, people like to get their hands around a physical product, especially when the artist is dear to their hearts. Secondly, music downloads cannot come close to the sonic fidelity of a CD. An average CD song is 50 MB in file size, while the mp3 download of the same song would be less than 5 MB. That is a lot of sonic listening loss, and one that many music listeners are not ready to part with.
