When I come across people addressing question of how to backup ps3 games, I often find them asking about using a PS3 mod chip. Modding a PS3 is not nearly as straightforward as it with say an Xbox 360 or a Wii console. For one, there aren’t that many mod chips that have been manufactured for the purposes of modding PS3s and even if do you manage to locate someone selling them, then there’s still the matter of how it is that you actually go about installing the chip. A mod chip need to be attached directly to the console’s motherboard and that involves soldering. Unless you’re particularly skilled in this area I’d suggest leaving it to a professional.
