An extended holiday with the Greek authorities
When on my honeymoon in Greece with my wonderful new husband I stumbled on a major problem. I didn’t realize that I only had a couple of months left on my passport before it was out of date. Leaving the UK was fine because of UK regulations however on the return journey they would not accept my passport, crazy considering if I wasn’t meant to be in the country you would think the best thing to do is send me home, but no, that’s not what happened. I had to apply for a temporary passport from the British consort in Greece then wait to hear from Passport application tracking about when I could fly home. The process took 2 days, in which the Greece authorities paid for me to stay in a B&B, at least the UK is not the only country with it’s priorities all wrong.
